4th Grade iPad Selfies
Lights! Camera! Fraction Movies!
Second graders did some "app-smashing" using several apps together to create these fun reindeer adventures. They used the app "Pages" to create a story about how a reindeer got its colored nose. Then they used the app "Christmas Fun:Songs, games and photo frames" to put themselves into a reindeer face. Next they took their image into the app "ChatterPix Kids" and created a video! They exported the video to their camera roll and emailed it to their teacher. Listen and watch their fun adventures at the Reindeer Adventures page!

iCan, iLearn, iCreate-iPads!
We are very exciting to be working with iPads in our 2nd Grade classrooms once again this year. We currently have a cart of iPads that rotates among 3 homerooms as well as with our gifted classroom.
In addition, this school year our PTO has graciously donated an iPad to each classroom! We are exploring the many ways in which the iPad can further enhance our teaching and learning. Come take a look at how our students are not only using iPads to learn but to create.
I believe iPads can truly revolutionize teaching and learning!

Our 2nd Grade team along with our enrichment teacher and technology teacher have been working on creating an iPad learning environment in our 2nd grade classrooms where students can showcase their growth and learning particularly in literacy and math.
These are some of the ways we plan to implement mobile technologies into the classroom starting with lower level thinking progressing to higher-level critical thinking.

- Apps to Learn -review content, drill using math/reading apps to replace paper worksheets. Create math and literacy centers where students would rotate every 15 minutes during math and language arts.
- iBooks- (eBook Reader) to increase reading fluency/literacy skills. Voice Recorders-can easily record their fluency practice and listen immediately to the voice recording
- Research/investigate topics (Safari, maps- web research) Use the iPads as a content viewer to research topics being used in the classroom.
- Create –Students will organize their information and design a presentation (iBooks, Zapd) for others to read and share with a larger audience. (Project based learning)
